Tax, Social Policy and Gender – Book launch
ANU Press, in conjunction with the Crawford School of Public Policy, is proud to be launching this collection of state of the art empirical, theoretical and policy thinking about gender equality in tax, transfer (social security) and social policy in Australia.
Edited by Professor Miranda Stewart, 'Tax, Social Policy and Gender: Rethinking equality and efficiency' seeks to answer important questions such as: What is the right framework for analysis of gender inequality today? How do taxes, transfers and social policy affect equality of wellbeing and the distribution of benefits and burdens along gender lines? And how can we move forward in developing policy that will enhance gender equality and wider wellbeing for Australian society as a whole? This volume aims to contribute substantive analysis and policy recommendations by bringing together interdisciplinary academic and policy analysis on a range of different topics with the common thread of gender equality in the tax and transfer system.
All are welcome to attend this event, which will be immediately followed by a public lecture, 'The pursuit of gender equality: an uphill battle' featuring Willem Adema, Senior Economist in the OECD Social Policy Division. More details about the lecture can be found at taxpolicy.crawford.anu.edu.au/news-events/events/11478/pursuit-gender-equality-uphill-battle
