ANU eView is an open access publisher for The Australian National University. ANU eView emerged in 2009, in response to the growing need for an outlet for the exceptional student writing being produced by ANU students. ANU students consistently produce excellent research, but barriers to publication limit student writing opportunities. ANU eView offers an opportunity for students to distribute their research to the broadest possible audience, taking advantage of the great leaps forward that the publishing industry has enjoyed.
Based on the highly successful ANU E Press model emphasising open access distribution to maximise the reading audience, ANU eView brings the benefits of digital publication to the research student community. Since launching in 2009, ANU eView has expanded to include community publications, poetry, conference proceedings, student journals, and other internally refereed University material.
Along with its publishing counterparts ANU Press (formerly ANU E Press) and ANU eTEXT, ANU eView is part of ANU Library. Upholding the University’s commitment to open access distribution of knowledge, all ebooks published by ANU eView are available for free download, while hard copies are available for purchase through a print-on-demand (POD) system.
All ANU eView books and journals are published in digital formats and hard copy: all digital formats are available to read through a web browser or for free download. All ANU eView publications are available in PDF format, and recent titles are also available in epub and mobi formats, suitable for most devices including tablets, smartphones, the Barnes & Noble Nook and the Amazon Kindle.
While ANU eView emphasises digital publication, hard copies are available for purchase through a print-on-demand (POD) system.
What is print-on-demand?
Print-on-demand (POD) books are perfect-bound paperbacks with glossy covers. POD books can be printed one at a time or in small print runs. When a customer orders a POD book, the order is sent to our digital printers. The printers then produce the book and ship to our customers directly, within 14 working days to an Australian delivery address, or 21 days for overseas delivery.
Titles published by ANU eView come from a range of disciplines and areas: including medical research, community publications, poetry, history of the University, and conference proceedings. The student writing distributed by ANU eView has grown to include four student journals, covering a huge variety of ANU student research.
All submissions to ANU eView are evaluated by committee for suitability for publication. If you’re interested in publishing with ANU eView, please complete the Book Proposal Form.
If the committee is interested in the publication, they will contact you to request further details and a sample of the text.
